Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...


"Twinkle twinkle little star
How I wonder what you are
Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky
Wish I may, wish I might
Have the wish I wish tonight."

My husband and I were enjoying a glass of Pinot Noir on our deck the other night. (the glass quickly turned into a bottle I might add!) The weather was serene and beautiful as we sat amongst lit candles with an assortment of music playing. As the night hours grew longer we were surprised to witness a beautiful shooting star display. On the first shooting star that Scott and I witnessed Scott told me we had to make a wish.
"I wish for a million dollars!" I quickly boasted.
"I wish for health and happiness for the five of us!" my husband added.
Crap, that's a pretty good wish I thought to myself. Within a couple of moments we witnessed another shooting star.
"10 million dollars!" I yelled, feeling the effects of the wine kicking in.
"I wish that you and I are together always!" whispered Scott.
Wow! I got myself a keeper...Within a couple of minutes we saw another shooting star.
"I can't wish for anything else cuz that's all that's important to me!" said Scott.
I was speechless (which is rare for me). After this we watched the stars, the sky and the universe. I felt at peace...happy...content and so in love. Afterwards I thought to myself, "I wish everyone could feel this contentment in their life!" That is my wish...
We are blessed in our lives. Our family is close knit and the five of us rely on each other. My husband is my best friend. He makes me laugh, makes me cry, and quite often makes me mad!! The best part about this is that we never hold a grudge against each other. We laugh at jokes that some wouldn't find funny. We offer our shoulders for the other to cry on. We still say "I love you" before we go to bed at night and mean it with every ounce of who we are. This is what's important.
I read a blog the other night that touched me deeply. A man was dying of cancer and was fighting his battle with grace, faith and strength. He died this morning and left behind a wife and two children. The posts affected me greatly. Near the end of his battle his wife began posting for her husband. She wrote with the same grace, faith and dignity her husband had. She didn't want pity, she didn't ask why, she accepted his fate and had strength. I was touched by the words, because it allowed me to reflect upon my own life. Sometimes I get caught up on the materialistic aspects of life. Lately I have been dreaming about owning a really nice patio set. It has been something I have spent a lot of time thinking about, until today. What matters most is not our material belongings. What matters to me is that I have a healthy, safe and happy family of five. My children know that their parents love each other, and my children know that their parents love them. That is what is important...
Yesterday we got great news that our cousin and her husband welcomed a new baby boy into their family!! Babies are the hope for the future and represent all things true and pure!! We are joyous with the news of little Samuel!!
I will keep this post short and to the point.
