Kill Her With Kindness

We were sitting on the deck tonight having dinner (we will do this probably everyday from now on unless it rains!) and all of a sudden our "elderly" neighbour was standing on the deck bellowing to my boys.
"WHY DO YOU KEEP MOVING THE BOARDS?" She demanded.
I quickly kicked Scott who was so into his pizza that he wasn't listening to anyone.
"Oh...is there a problem?" he asked.
Immediately he startled her. She didn't see us sitting on the deck. (the boys had just finished eating and Scott and I were scarfing some more pizza~probably why I "loathe" pics of myself!)
"YES THERE'S A PROBLEM!!!!" She yelled.
"Do you mind sharing it then?" Scott answered.
"THAT ONE THERE...(she pointed to Josey) HE WALKED OVER TO THE TREE AND KNOCKED OVER THE BOARD!" She yelled.
"You're joking...!" I mumbled to myself.
"KEEP THOSE KIDS OFF OF MY PROPERTY" She added.
"Okay?...What board are we talking about? Do you want me to lean it back up?" Scott asked.
"NEVERMIND...I'LL GET SOMEONE TO COME OVER TO LEAN IT UP!" She added.
"Have a great day!" I chimed in...Scott looked over at me and we laughed.
Un*******believable! My boys just stood there staring at this woman who freaked them out. We went over to the tree, which is dead center on the property line. Right beside the tree is a board that was laying on the ground! Is it the end of the world that my 6 year old knocked a board over??
When we bought the house I asked about the neighbours. Our realtor said that the neighbour next to us was "at times" a little cranky!! I'd like to see when this lady gets a "lot" cranky!! Man oh man, people need to get lives and realize that a kid knocking over a board that was on a tree that is half on my property is not the end of the world!!!
After we went back on to the deck Scott asked, "what was with the cheery attitude? Trying to kill her with kindness?!"
"That was my plan!" I answered.
I hope you have a great day!!
Jenny

Man alive, you just can't win with your neighbors can you? I'm really sorry that you have to put up with all this crap all the time. Hopefully once you get your fence it will all stop because no one can say that anything is on their property if its all happening within your own yard. I really feel for you all. Hopefully it will get better and your neighbors will realize what nice people you all are!

I can TOTALLY understand you frustratin as we have one of those kind of neighbors and to top it off we live in town houses! So we are joined for life. But anyways, she doesn't mind the kids but she is always complaining about Adam! What nerve. Anyway, we want to put up a fence a lot of times just so we don't have to worry about the kids maybe bugging her. What is the point of a yard if you can't even let your kids play! Sounds like you guys handled it the best possible way to me, all you can do is try to make her as comfortable as possible.. haha.

Your son probably ruined the ramp for her fat, overfed squirrels. Since these are her only friends in the world and they can't get to her now to eat more, she's a little on edge. She's got PMS. Poor Malnutritioned Squirrels. :) Sorry! I'm in a mood today.

What I can't understand is how some people (neighbours) can be so inconsiderate. I live in an apartment, and sometimes it feels like I'm living in a dorm. We are seriously thinking of moving, because that's how loud and rude my neighbours are. I miss living on a farm, where the neighbours weren't right in your "back yard." Hope things work out...

Why does she have a board on your shared tree anyway?! (Did I miss something?) She sounds like a real "sweetheart" as my mother in law calls them!

Maybe you should make the fence electric? heehee!
