No Use Crying Over Spilled Milk

Today was one of those days. I slept in and got the boys off to school at 8:32 am. The bell rings at 8:35 am, so technically I wasn't late. (I am glad that I live only across the highway from the school.) When I got home I realized that my stomach wasn't feeling all that well. I spent the next couple of hours running back and forth to the washroom. (Probably too much info for most...I do apologize). Afterwards, Gavin and I decided to lay down on the couch for a half an hour nap. This was 10 o'clock. We woke up at 1:20 pm and I realized I was really behind my schedule for the day. We were snuggling on the couch and giggling when my husband sauntered down from upstairs. He was up before me and he went to bed at 7:35 am. (night shift) I felt (almost) guilty for having nothing accomplished. Immediately, I tried to drag my big ol' butt off the couch and get the day started.
I went off to Safeway with a list in my pocket. "Toothpaste...toothpaste...gotta remember toothpaste." $138 later with all sorts of goodies I realized(as I was packing the groceries into the house) that I forgot the toothpaste. I guess that meant another trip downtown.
In the meantime, I came home to find all the garbage packed up and ready to be taken to the dump.
"You said you were going to do a dump run right hun!" said Scott.
"Yeah!" I mumbled. Oh well, I better do it.
After Scott went to work the boys and I got the back of the truck loaded and headed off to the dump. Jonas was having a major meltdown. The two of us had a minor blowout and I informed him that he wasn't going to the Harry Potter movie. The kid wouldn't stop wailing.
While Jonas was wailing Gavin was yelling "Stupid Dog...stupid cat...Mommy? Stupid Dog...stupid cat!" (My pets were not on my good list today!) Seamus was hiding in the back seat covering his ears. I tried to do the same.
When we got to the dump it was so dark I was afraid to get out of the truck. I opened the door and started to walk towards the tail gate and I heard a small growl or a roar. Well, it sounded like that at the time. I ran and jumped into the truck. Jonas was still crying and Gavin was still yelling, "Stupid Dog...stupid cat!" Quickly I came to my senses and realized that no animal would dare come near this truck. We would certainly scare anything away! I jumped out of the truck and into the back of the truck and began throwing out the garbage. I grabbed a bag that I had just emptied kitty litter into and it broke open. Kitty litter flew everywhere! Now I was really annoyed. I grabbed the broom and began sweeping the dirty litter out of the truck. Again I began to hear the noises. So I quickly threw down the broom, put up the tailgate and jumped into the truck. Meanwhile my two yahoos were still going at it. My head began to pulse...
We did a quick run through at Walmart and I bought my toothpaste plus an extra $68 worth of goods. On the way home Jonas and Seamus started in on each other. I laid down the law. Jonas began to cry. Gavin started to scream and my head started to pulse. As we pulled up to our house there was a vehicle idling in front. I put on my signal and the car continued to idle in front of my driveway. I was growing impatient, so I hit the horn (and was going to pull a "Ross", but decided not to) and the car finally turned into the adjacent driveway. With a sigh of relief I knew this chaos was coming to an end. I gave Seamus instructions to let Gypsy off the chain. I went over to the passenger side of the truck and opened the door. My newly purchased 4 litre bottle of milk fell to the ground and ruptured. Meanwhile, Gypsy was loose and was running towards the idling car. Seamus was frazzled, Gavin was yelling and Jonas was crying. I grabbed the milk and made a mad dash into the house. Splatters of milk followed my every step. I went into the kitchen and the plastic gave way and the milk came roaring down on my(newly washed) kitchen floor. I stood there for a moment...
Seamus interrupted me with, "Mommy...Gypsy was standing in the milk and now she's running on the front seat of the truck!" Give me patience, I thought to myself. I went back outside to rectify the situation. Gavin was yelling, Jonas was crying and this time both Seamus and Mommy were frazzled.

Hope your day was better!
Jenny

I'm sorry you had such a rough day. You really didn't have to come and take my stuff too, but thanks for doing it anyways. I don't know if being at the dump in the dark would be such a good thing, I'd be scared too.

I hope that you're day is better today. Take care!
