I heard awhile ago some kind of quote about friendships having their seasons. Well personally I think that's a pile of crap, with a capital C! As far as I'm concerned true friendships don't die off in a particular season. True friends grow with time. If a friendship dies off, then it was nothing more than an aquaintance.
I read an awesome description of best friends the other day. A true friend is there to laugh with you...defend you, etc. A true friend always has your back and not their own personal agendas.
A friendship shouldn't be about one person trying to purposely outshine the other and badmouth their friend. These games should be left back in the playground.
I love the fact that my best friend always has my best interests. She thinks of me. I am never an afterthought. Last month our women's group was having a bridal shower for one of the ladies and it was taking place at 7 am. Shari knows there's no way I'd go to Kitimat for 7 am,but she still gave me the invitation. I am always included with everyone to every event and not made to feel like a third party. Shari and I are proud of each other and our friendship. Many times, I don't know the people Shari knows (she knows all of Kitimat!) but she always invites me along eventhough she knows that I probably won't be coming. She always makes me feel like I matter, and that is the most important thing. It's not about her.
Last week I saw an interview with Gayle King talking about her BFF Oprah(yes I know they can be annoying). She said people don't understand that kind of friendship and some even feel put off by it. I am lucky to have a friendship like that, that I honour and trust. I can be completely honest with Shari and know she will always defend me, and always have my back.
Another pet peeve of mine is people climbers. You know the kind of "friend" who only uses you until they find someone that they think is better, then they discard you like a dirty sock. Truly I cannot tolerate people like that! My philosophy is no ill harm to these people, but if a person treats someone like that than they will get some sort of just reward.
With all that said I am here to say I miss Shari!! She has gone away on holidays for a few weeks and I feel a little sad. To top off matters Penny is also on holidays. I have other friends I have been hanging out with(to whom I value their friendships)but this is just a shout out to Shari and Penny..."you better be having a great time!!!"
Anyhow I hope you're all having a great day! Sorry for the ramble, I kind of let my fingers do the talking and I'm not even going to proof read or spell check!!
